Is Costa Rica a safe country for real estate investment?
Costa Rica has a long history of stable democracy. It has no army and is protected by the USA. It is often referred to as the 'Switzerland' of Cental America. Reason enough for Daimler Benz (Mercedes) and NASA to establish their headquarters for the region in Costa Rica. Multinational companies like Intel have also recently set up a large factory in the country and Unilever has decided to house a large part of their Central American production in Costa Rica.

Is there an obligation to build on either the building or plantation plots?
No, there isn't. If you have bought a building or timber plot in one of the locations that we have on offer, you are not obliged to build on it. You can keep the property as a pure investment and then resell it at a later stage.

What is the cost of building a house on my development plot?
The cost of house building in Costa Rica is considerably cheaper than in the UK or USA Ireland. Basic building standards will cost €26 per square foot and top class building will bring the price to around €65 square foot...

How much of my development plot can I build on?
You are allowed to build on 15% of the surface area of your purchased plot of land to a maximum height of 2 stories. So for example, on a 1000 sqm plot you can build a home with 150 sqm on the ground floor and 150 sqm on the second floor, giving a total area of 300 sqm.

What about public utilities such as gas, water, electricity, telephone and internet?
The Foundation RVGA takes care of the supply of gas, water, electricity, telephone and internet up to the main entrance of the estate. The cost for the connection to your property will be yours to bear.

What is the foundation RVGA and what does it do?
RVGA stands for RioGrandeVerde. The foundation manages the invested money until the notary deed has been signed, takes care of the construction of the roads and the supply of gas, water, electricity, telephone and internet.

Will a notary deed be drafted for the building plot that I buy?
Yes, a notary deed for the purchased building plot will be drafted and entered into the land register. The notary will be travelling to Europe several times a year. We will set up an appointment for you to sign the necessary documents.

Can I sell my timber or building plot at any time I decide to do so?
Yes, you can sell your timber or development plot at any time. You can do this yourself, via a local real estate agent or you can allow us to sell it on your behalf.

What kind of eco-tourism is offered in Costa Rica?
Costa Rica has 20 National Parks, 8 biological parks and a wealth of other protected areas, which have been embraced by eco-tourists for many years. Here you can participate in activities such as horseback riding, hiking over mountain trails in the cloud forests, organized bird watching tours, etc..

I would like to buy building land or a plantation plot for my child. Is this possible?
Yes, it is possible. The deed of purchase will be registered in the name of your child, but will be signed by you. You remain responsible until your child reaches the age of 18.
